Best yoga ever! It is for everyone. No need to touch your toes, bend over backwards or even walk (yoga can be done in wheelchairs and I have seen people come in with them) Everyone can do yoga and that's the emphasis here.
For me yoga is not about a workout on getting more bendy but about being less stressed and ridding my mind of all the junk I am constantly thinking about in my busy schedule. This is the only yoga place I've been to where I have seen a huge improvement in these things. It works! Plus I do get a workout and am more flexible which are just bonuses for me.
Kudos to Suzette and the mom and me class. Think you can't do yoga b/c you have a baby and no time. Well then just bring your baby to class with you. A class for moms and there infants. It's great.
FREE CLASSES! Yeah the best part is they have a free class I think every month for new students. If you want to try it out but don't want to spend the money just to find out it's not what your looking for (which I doubt) then come to a class for free. They are usually on Sunday and if the time and day doesn't work out just e-mail Tracy, the director, and she'll send you a free class card to try any 1 class of your choice for free.
Thanks Whole Life!

The Yoga for Round Bodies class here is the best! I've been going now for a couple of years, having been very reluctantly dragged there by a friend. She assured me it would do me worlds of good, and it has. I had never thought about taking yoga, as it looked far too strenuous and the idea of being stuck in a room with a lot of skinny flexible people was just depressing.

At first we went to the Yoga for Real People class, but although very low key it was still a bit too much for me so we tried the Round Bodies class instead, and it was just right. There was nothing I couldn't do but it was enough of a workout I could definitely feel it the next day. The upshot is that I'm definitely more flexible than I used to be and I move a lot better.

I haven't been in any other yoga studios, but this seems nice. Simple, uncluttered, just some fresh flowers and a few candles, and no windows so I don't feel like I'm on public display (one thing I hated about gyms).

The instructor for the Round Bodies class, Patricia, is really great. She's been where we've been, and she doesn't expect people to do impossible things. She's very good at helping us find what we CAN do to improve, and I highly recommend her class.

Please ignore the number of stars, as this isn’t really a review, but a response to the review on April 16. I’m very sorry this student wasn’t happy with their yoga experience, and if he or she reads this and is willing to contact me, I’d like to discuss it further and see if there’s a way I can remedy their disappointment. However, I’ve done some research on the issue, and there are some misperceptions in the review that I’d like to clarify.

The first and most important is the qualifications of our instructors.

All of our instructors are experienced and certified with Yoga Alliance. Patricia, the instructor mentioned in the review, has over 5 years of experience and is both Whole Life Yoga and Yoga Alliance certified. She doesn’t teach a beginners class at our studio. Rather, she teaches a class called “Yoga for Round Bodies” that is a mixture of new and experienced students of rounder body types, who are taking yoga as a way of connecting with their body in a positive way. For many of them, that means resting without being disturbed when they need to, and they have asked Patricia to allow them to do that. Although we have no record of a student with a recent knee surgery in that class, it’s not uncommon for rounder bodied students to have knee issues, and they are asked to not do any postures that cause them discomfort.

We are located 4 blocks away from the nearest pet shop, and neither of the businesses next to us allows pets. We also have on site parking available for customers in the garage in our building. We have an automatic temperature control system that holds the room temperature between 71 and 74 degrees, unless there is a power outage.

The student in the review mentions “Yoga for Real People” which is our beginner’s series. However that class isn’t offered any night that Taproot Theater is open, and it’s not taught by Patricia. I’m wondering if the reviewer accidentally signed up for the wrong class, and if that’s part of their confusion and dissatisfaction.

Again, I apologize for the dissatisfaction. As you can tell from the other reviews, we try to do everything we can to make our students feel welcome and well taken care of.

I signed up for a Yoga for real people class at Whole Life Yoga recently based on the reviews on here but was surprised to discover that it is like taking a class inside of a wooden box (no natural light or windows). It is in a very new building but as this was a night class right near the taproot theater there was no parking for blocks, it is right next to a pet store and a dog literally barked through the entire class and it was so cold I put on a jacket for most of it.

My biggest concern was that the instructor didn't seem to notice people who stopped doing poses and one girl with recent knee surgery was told to just sit it out. Overall I felt like I was in an experimental college yoga class with a novice instructor Patricia who when I looked at the web site again it isn't clear that she is even certified so I doubt I will return as it feels unsafe.

There are tons and tons of other great yoga studios in Wallingford, Phinney and Freemont but the combination of a bad location, lack of attention to the class needs and a novice instructor just didn't make sense as the best of Seattle.

Wow! This is the greatest place. I have tried other studios but never had an experience like Whole Life and its many fine instructors provide. I came to yoga after a bout with breast cancer and lymphedema. Physically active but not an "exerciser". I had had only one yoga experience which assumed that I was lithe and flexible. Ugh! Tracy and her instructors took me from where I was and turned me into one strong and flexible medicare mom! Special thanks goes to the perceptive Deidre Wilcox who takes each student where he/she is and guides him/her gently along to places they never knew they could go. I willingly get up at 5:30AM to take her class three days a week. She possesses all the qualities of a great teacher! From a

Absolutely the best - they meet you where you're at and challenge you to go where you can, without forcing you to go where you aren't ready to be.

I really enjoyed the "Meditation and Movement" series that I just completed at Whole Life Yoga. I loved the combination of physical movement and stillness in that class, and the teacher was fabulous!

Whole Life Yoga studio has been my favorite for many since 2001 when I started with their New Year introductory special for first timers. The atmospher that Tracey and her staff create there is warm, friendly and supportive with plenty of ideas for learning to practice yoga with special body needs: back strain, arthritis, or other difficulties that make this a meditative and relaxing exercise. Finding it hard to bend, I tried "Yoga for Round Bodies" which is designed to get you moving in the best possible ways that accomodates different body types and skill levels, I highly recommend it!

Whole Life Yoga classes are all-welcoming. They take you from where you are right at this moment, build from that in a safe, encouraging environment ,making this studio wonderful for people who are new to yoga. Last year I completed the 200 hour teacher training at WLY. The standards and expectations were always high, but there was always help if you needed it. After completing the training, I felt competent to begin teaching viniyoga. Kris

Very relaxing, energizing place. Their Saturday and Sunday morning classes are one of my favorite ways to start the day. The instructors are helpful and supportive, and they do a very effective job of tailoring each yoga class to the needs of those attending.
