As a person whose family fled the intentional starvation of the soviet farming class, this statue is an affront to me and a slap in the face to everything I love about America. Everytime I am in Fremont, I must resist the urge to throw red paint all over it.
A recent quote from Sarah: "...amidst the piles of paperwork, requests for assistance, auction stuff, comes a call from a heartbroken weeping mother who is in the hospital, her baby died last night....talking with her, helping her get a photographer out to get pictures of her baby..., my heart breaks for her, and brings it all home as to why I am sitting here buried in paperwork. It's for her. It's for all those hurting parents. It's worth it all." Sarah brings comfort to grief-stricken Washington families, in her, I see the love of God.
Clever and artistic. Not your department store standard poses.
