iCYCLE KONG POISED FOR BIGGEST RIDE YET
Arlington, WA – A revolutionary and, according to its inventors, evolutionary snow sport machine is set to take the winter sports world by snow storm. The device is called the iCycle KONG, and it's a product of Arlington's Slider Corporation.
The iCycle KONG is the brainchild of Lynn Marks/Surdyk and Bentley Surdyk, both of Arlington. They began with an old bicycle frame, a couple of snowboards, and a vision. Through extensive laborious design, testing and redesign phases, the couple's vision slowly emerged (see attached photo). From a clunky, unwieldy prototype the slick, super graphic sporting iCycle KONG now takes center stage at this year's Snowsports Industries America (SIA) show in Las Vegas January 27th through the 30th at Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
The journey was never easy, nor was success assured, though the team at Slider never wavered in their commitment to bring the iCycle KONG to market no matter what it took.
“We knew exactly where we wanted the iCycle KONG to go, the challenge was to evolve the design, source the team, the manufacturer, develop the positioning we thought was best, and then drive full steam ahead,” Marks/Surdyk said. “To see this baby go from a functional sixty-nine pound snow scooter to the twenty-three pound, uber maneuverable iCycle KONG was a thrilling ride in itself,” noted Marks.
The iCycle KONG's twin board pivot design with a compact set of handlbars rising from the front gives it the look of a cycle and the ability to speed down a slope, cut instantaneously, and reverse course to a full stop with a simple turn and shift of the rider's weight.
Slider Corporation's goal at the 2009 SIA show is to launch what they consider to be one of the most exciting products to hit the stores, websites and slopes in some time. Seen as appealing to both snowboarders and skiers, the iCycle KONG is also in the early phases of developing into a sanctioned sport device with an eye on future Olympic Games.
Slider Corporation is owned and operated by Lynn Marks/Surdyk, CEO and President, and Bentley Surdyk. Corporate offices are located at 17410 73rd Drive NE, Arlington, Washington 98223.
