(avg rating of 76 recs) Write a recommendationThe most important thing initially was Judy's ability to do a Lactose-free cake. A few local places in the area will do Vegan cakes, but after trying several, we just did not find a taste that was really great, plus they could only do two tiers or it would collapse. The big chains like Safeway & QFC will not/ can not do lactose free, & even the few small local bakeries we questioned would not do them. Judy was not only willing, she had experience making them. She met with us initially to do a tasting & it was so nice to finally be given LOTS of choices in fillings, cake flavor, frostings & all lactose free. Her unique cake style that emphasizes the creamy flavorful filling instead of lots of bread-y cake was also a strong selling point. We ended up with a lovely light creamy, three tiers, hazelnut, and cappuccino cake, which we never could have gotten if we went with vegan style. Things were a little disorganized as she never had time for us to do a tasting of the final combo, or go over decorations other than a few rushed emails. Plus we didn't get the cake stand we wanted so it ended up thrown together at the last minute, but I was more concerned about taste. My friends & picky mother-in-law still rave about how good it was & my husband & I can't wait for our anniversary cake.
Best cake EVER. The service was terrific. the choices of fillings mousses etc was amazing. Be sure to ask to sample "a party in your mouth". My friends and I still talk about this cake.
It's has been one month after our wedding and everyone (on face book) is still talking about how beautiful the cake looked and how delicious it was. As my three year old nephew said, “it was the bested cake ever”.
I couldn't even correct him, because he was so right. Now I have two reasons in looking forward to my one anniversary...
Works of art, delicious and affordable
Their food is second to none. Nothing I've ever eaten on this continent compares. Tallant House's food reminds me of a vacation to France.
Also, they are prompt, thorough, and trustworthy! I couldn't ask for better service from start to end.
Judy has a passion for what she does and is so good at it. Her cakes are not only beautiful but also taste amazing!

The flavors of our cake were amazing. Three years later, I am still getting spontaneous compliments on it from people who tasted it.
I adore their layers of delicious cake with jellied coulis and meringue frosting. Simply amazing!

Judy's cakes are beautiful on the outside, but the true beauty is inside where they are moist, richly flavorful, and you end up eating every bite! At a wedding, very few people do not finish their entire slice, and rave about how it was the best cake they ever ate!
We got ooodles of compliments on our wedding cake! Everyone raved about it. The process of picking it out was soo much fun! I'm sad that her cake studio isn't closer to me but it is probably for the best—I'd gain so much weight!!
Judy Tallant is the most talented pastry chef I know. And her cakes are absolutely delicious!
