Step by Step is currently serving over 900 families in Western Washington. Our mission is to mentor, guide, and connect women to community members and resources that support healthy pregnancy and parenting.
Our specialized staff conduct in-home and clinic visits that provide personalized care to eligible women during and after pregnancy and through the early months of parenting. Step by Step works with families to identify needs and create a tailored plan of service.

Hello Katherine. I'm sure you don't remember me, you work with a lot of people, but you helped me so much during my pregnancy through the step by step program. I just wanted to tell you thank you so very much! I'm married now and my daughter is going to be one in October. She is amazing and so very smart! I just wanted to tell you that the work you do is so great. You always made me feel so comfortable, never did I feel like a charity case or less of person, the way some people can make you feel when you need help. My husband and I live in the same house and we recieve no assistance, we are finally stable and a lot of that is due to your helping hand. I am very grateful to you and the whole Step by Step program. Thank you again so very much!

As a physician caring for women experiencing pregnancy complications I have often been discouraged by the personal, relational, and other barriers to a woman taking care of herself so that she and her baby will both be healthy. Step by Step comes alongside vulnerable women while pregnant and caring for new babies, encourages them, and helps them find and use resources to thrive. It is one of the rare services that integrates the medical and personal, closing the gaps that usually exist in social service systems.
The volunteers are incredible, and the results are effective
I have watched this organization help many, many young women when they are in one of the most challenging moments of their lives. This opportunity is not only impacting the women but helps their children immensely.
This small organization has provided critical support to women and families during the most stressful times of their lives. Their efforts have allowed hundreds of babies to be welcomed into loving families, rather than the life-shattering alternative.

My name is Cheryl and I am a single Mom of a four year old boy. I first heard about Step by Step when a friend at church asked me to volunteer for a function they were holding. It was amazing to serve (and get to know) the families in need. I helped with crafts, it was such an honor to have fun with the clients and get creative. We also shared dinners together, and I thoroughly enjoyed building relationships with the staff and clients. I believe that many lives were enriched, including my own.
This year, I am actually attending a 6 week parenting class, and it has been great! The mothers are asking questions, getting answers, and feeling loved along the way! Thank You, Step by Step, for reaching out to those in need of hope! I love being involved with what you are doing!

It is a great service that helps families.
I know one of the members of Step By Step very well and I know that she goes way above and beyond the call of duty by taking a vested interest in each of her clients. She takes great pains to help each of her clients get the help they need and treats them with great care and respect. Step by Step truly embraces mothers and families in need during what can be a very challenging time through pregnancy and postpartum. I can't imagine how some of their clients would get through without the support of such a generous and caring staff at Step by Step.
They are an amazing charity... they helped us in our time of need when we were struggling emotionally and financialy with the surprise of a new baby on the way.

They provide hope and help to the young women in our culture that are too often left behind to fend for themselves.
Our case worker has always been there when we needed her the most. Through the good and more often than not the bad. With encouraging and motivating words to see things through. She has done an outstanding job in finding resources when needed. Not to mention, she has gone beyond the call of duty to stay in touch even after our time with the program was up. She still checks on us ever now and again and if I have any questions I know I can drop her a line and she will do her best. This is truly an amazing group.
