Save A Forgotten Equine (SAFE)

Category: Favorite Local Charity (109 listings)

Save a Forgotten Equine (SAFE) is a group dedicated to rescuing horses at risk of being sent to slaughter or in danger of neglect or abuse. We are deeply committed to the horses that we save, and the donations we receive are spent to care for these horses while we work to find homes for them. We provide all of our horses with needed veterinary care, farrier services, blankets, supplements, and nutrition. We evaluate our horses to discover their strengths and suitabilities, and we provide many of these horses with additional training to help ensure them a safe and productive future.

It's really nice to see an organization that works not only hard, but smart. The key to their sucess is the genuine goal of turning an unwanted/untrained or neglected horse into a usable and adoptable partner. They do not "collect and parade" them for personal gain and public donations. The transparency of this organization's financials should be commended as 100% of their donations go directly to the program. KUDO's to a job well done!

Very effective horse rescue group - ethical, compassionate, fiscally responsible, and kind. They are horse-knowledgeable, and consult with first rate veterinarians and farriers. They put training into the horses, which helps the horses' chances at finding good homes. Three cheers for them.

They are 100% volunteer operated. They are devoted and work extremely hard at nursing their rescued horses back to health. As well as working with them personally everyday to make them adoptable again. Exercising them, grooming them, as well as giving them the love and attention they need to have the will to go on. This organization is amazing! I am in the process of adopting a horse from them right now. Please choose this organization for best local charity. They could really use a lot of help. They all have and do sacrifice a lot for these animals.

The horses receive complete health care and training. Placement is done carefully. If an adopter cannot keep a horse for any reason, SAFE promptly takes the horse back into the rescue.

SAFE does an excellent job of rehabbing and rehoming horses in desperate need. They evaluate each horse and are very honest about each horse in their care. SAFE is completely financially transparent; finances are posted monthly. I adopted a purebred horse from them and couldn't be more pleased. Highly recommend!

Having been involove in Horse rescue for the last 4 years, SAFE is quite possibly one of the best-run horse rescues in not only WA, but in the whole PNW. They publicly post their financial information so you see where every dollar is going. They also put training into every horse that needs it to make the horse as successful as possible. A lot of rescues simply don't.

They are smart and very well organized, and spend the donations they receive in a thoughtful and effective manner. Everything they do is with the deepest concern for horses in need. People who really care about this cause would do well to donate to this amazing group of people!!
