The dedicated work they are doing is absolutely amazing. With our economy problems, many horses have been abandoned, neglected and left to die. S.A.F.E. has literally saved their lives, rehabilitated them, and found new loving homes for these unwanted horses. I salute them.
S.A.F.E. provides an opportunity for horses to recover from physical neglect becoming healthy horses in preparation for adoption. In addition S.A.V.E.'s staff and volunteers take a holistic approach to rehabilitating the horses. Time is spend training the horses to be well behaved for daily care such as farrier work and loading in trailers. If they are are found healthy enough the horses become are started or re-started as riding horses. Once healthy, all the horses at S.A.F.E. are available for adoption. They keep the herd size manageable and are responsible in how funds are used. They have a commitment to the horses for their entire life and keep up with the adopted horses through their alumni program making sure they never are in danger of needing rescuing again.
