After Poverty Bay Coffee Company was formed, our customers kept asking where they could buy our coffee locally. We soon realized that we needed a "showcase" for these marvelous, sustainably grown coffees. After a full year of negotiating construction hurdles and potholes, we nervously opened our coffee shop / deli in Federal Way, WA. Our first day was February 18, 2002 and it was an instant hit in the Federal Way community. Planning to create a great coffee shop that serves food, we wound up with an great menu of great food...and great coffee.

They have great coffee, friendly baristas, and the price is right.
Delicious fresh coffee and great food. Also wonderful staff.
Just the best coffee. Plus, they have coffee from Jungle Tech, which is a fantastic beyond-fair trade company. It gets its beans straight from the farmers themselves, who harvest shade-grown beans. I've met one of the owners, and it's a great company who produces great coffee. Really.
Best coffee, great sandwiches and salads. Friendly atmosphere. Also the best iced coffee drinks. Almost forgot- waffles-yum!
I have been a customer since Dan opened his first espresso cart in 1991. The product has been consistently good, the service friendly and efficient (hard combination to achieve!), and I like supporting local businesses. Dan has a knack of turning customers into friends. In fact, he even married one of his customers!
Best sustainable shade grown coffee in the world. Nice people always serving customers
Best staff in the world. Every one of them is committed to providing their customers with the best in service and product, whether food or coffees. Shade-grown coffee, fresh pastries, sandwiches, salads, soups, waffles and smoothies. You gotta try it!
Great coffee! Friendly employees! I really like the fact that their coffee is shade grown which is better for the environment and provides a habitat for many bird species.
This is THE local coffee place. They're micro-roasters, so you know your brew is as fresh as it gets. They have a barista training program for homeless teens. They are environmentally sound and give back to our community with financial support of Friends of the Hylebos wetland preservation, plus coffee donations for nonprofit events. This is a fave hangout for small meetings, retirees, people coming and going from the park. A solid local business invested in it's community.
Poverty Bay has great coffee and is owned and operated by the coolest people ever!
Very friendly, great local coffee.
Great coffee, Wonderful people!!!!
They roast their own beans and make an excellent cup. The staff are friendly and very competent.
Not only do they serve great lattes but they also are their own roasting company. They sell a great product with great service!
They actually have a good coffee flavor and I have tried many different coffees. Most coffee places I taste more milk then coffee. I also like the fact of the shade grown organic coffee they serve and working with small farmers. I love it.
The coffee is wonderful and the staff couldn't be more friendly. We have been going to them for over 10 years and we wouldn't change a thing.
I love that whenever I come into their store, I am always greeted with welcoming smiles. They do their best to please the customers, even if the customers themselves are wrong. I never feel rushed when I come. It is a great place to sit down and chat with a friend over a cup of coffee or get some homework done.
Very friendly environment!
Nice atmosphere, very nice staff, great coffee
Fabulous service, friendly staff, the best coffee and a great menu.
I started going to Poverty Bay because they have shade-grown, songbird safe, fair trade, organic coffee, but I continue to go there because their coffee is the BEST! Not only that, but their service is outstanding. Every year for the holidays, I buy my employees gift certificates there and I recommend their coffee to my friends because I believe in their product. Great coffee and socially concerned!
