Poverty Bay Coffee Company

Category: Coffee Shop (163 listings)

After Poverty Bay Coffee Company was formed, our customers kept asking where they could buy our coffee locally. We soon realized that we needed a "showcase" for these marvelous, sustainably grown coffees. After a full year of negotiating construction hurdles and potholes, we nervously opened our coffee shop / deli in Federal Way, WA. Our first day was February 18, 2002 and it was an instant hit in the Federal Way community. Planning to create a great coffee shop that serves food, we wound up with an great menu of great food...and great coffee.

They have fantastic shade grown coffee and an emphasis on fresh home made meals. The BEST cinnamon rolls made fresh daily. They provide meals to the homeless and are very active in community outreach. It is a cozy spot for the locals to gather.

Great coffee and food. Very homey, relaxed atmosphere, and uses only shade grown coffee. Also, they roast their own coffee locally.

I am a relatively new customer. My friend introduced me to Poverty Bay about 2 months ago. I used to be an avid starbucks drinker, not because I particularly cared for the taste of the coffee, but because it's easily accessible. I have gladly gone out of my way to get my 12 oz. iced mocha (sometimes non-fat, sometimes not; sometimes with whip, sometimes not). I love that when I walk in I a welcomed with a genuine smile. The baristas are personable, and seem happy to see you when you walk in, and in many cases are on a first name basis with the regulars. The atmosphere is great; kind of like going over to a friends house to hang out, read a book, and have a great cup of joe. I would and will gladly send business their way!

Very nice and always remember that I prefer my rice latte lukewarm! The fact that they carry rice milk is a big plus too! It's a great place to start the day.

Baristas are super and friendly; coffee is always perfect. Their omelets, waffles and sandwiches are almost as good as their roasts!

Alice and Dan are great people. They serve a fabulous breakfasts and sumptous lunches. Dan grinds his own coffee and it is wonderful and saves songbirds at the same time. It is a great place to talk, read, eat or anyother thing one can do in public with a cup of coffee.
