The Pickford Cinema is the most recognized and beloved face of the Whatcom Film Association. Jump-started by film enthusiasts in 1998, incorporated by March of that year, and granted full non-profit 501(c) status on October 3, 1999, the WFA purposely located the Pickford in the heart of the downtown business district, currently at 1416 Cornwall Ave. The Pickford is generally recognized within the community as the finest forum for independent film, including contemporary art films, documentaries and foreign films. With its limited seating capacity of 88 seats, the cinema has seen a 68 percent rise in attendance since opening in 1998. During 2004 alone, the Pickford saw an increase of an additional 20 percent. This growth, combined with other limitations of the current venue, prompted our organization towards the goal of relocating to a larger space. Plans are now underway to renovate an historical building downtown into a two-screen film center with an anticipated opening date of winter 2007.

You can see almost anything playing here. It is not a run of the mill movie "theater" it is relaxing and inviting and nothing like i have seen.
You should go there.
It shows a great array of independent films, it supports local causes, commubity, and promotes a sense of local pride in downtown Bellingham. Plus, they simply have the BEST popcorn around...real butter!
