Born to German immigrant parents, Marty didn't speak much English until he was six years old, so radio was a perfect career choice. As the son of a Boeing engineer, it seemed as if Marty would follow in his dad's footsteps -- he even got a masters degree in electrical engineering from UW – but he'd been fascinated by radio since the age of 13, when he weaseled his way into weekend work at KGRG, the radio station at Green River Community College in Auburn.
For three years he perfected his craft there after school and on weekends, until the fateful day when a shrewd campus administrator caught Marty cruising without a license through downtown Auburn in a college ("For Official Use Only") van filled with his little junior-high hoodlum friends. Later, part-time jobs at KZOK and KJR financed his college education; he then spent six years at the legendary KXRX, where he was literally the first person in the world to break the sad news about Kurt Cobain's death, thanks to a phone tip from an electrician who'd been working in the singer's house.
After the demise of "The X", Marty developed his own TV/video production company, where his projects have included an outdoors series with hydroplane racer Chip Hanauer that's aired in more than 40 countries. Now he's your morning host on The Mountain, preserving commuters' sanity on the sometimes dreary ride to work. And as you'll notice, his English has gotten quite good.

Marty is by far the best radio personality around. I feel like we're long-time friends.
Marty is consistently entertaining and he always knows what's going on in the world of comedy.
Humor balanced with intelligence.
Great personality, finger on the music pulse, intelligent and involved with his listeners and the community. KMTT isn't on my dial anymore - guess why!
I have been listening to Marty for 16 years, I appreciate his humor and his intelligence, he is the very best DJ out there, I am a HUGE fan. I no longer listen to the Mountain since he was let go, huge mistake for KMTT to make. Marty will find a better gig very soon. He is hilarious!!
allways entertaining and informative
Marty Riemer is approachable, funny, down to earth, edgy & just darn funny. There isn't anyone else like him (or Jodi Brothers) on the radio today. They should get this award. Thanks!
Marty's wit and "radio presence" is far and away the best of any on a.m. radio. He is the reason I listen to KMTT in the morning --or rather, was the reason until he was abruptly fired from the station. I am just hoping he lands somewhere soon so I can tune in to that station.
Absolutely hosted the best radio show that made my day every day!
Ohmigosh!! They're the best! I miss him and Jodi so much on my drive to work!
Great way to wake up in the morning, funny but not goofy.
Marty (and Jodi!) are the best radio personalities in the Northwest. I can't believe the Mountain didn't renew their contracts. What a shame.
He is the "guy next door who you wish was your brother if you had a brother". He is funny, down-to-earth and himself in everything - good and bad. Mornings are not the same since the station of his former employment decided Marty and Jodi's services were no longer needed. We Seattleites are anxiously anticipating where they will work next to make it the #1 radio show in Seattle.
the man is a genius. a true personality.
I love his casual style of interviewing and great sense of humor! The Mountain was insane to let him & Jodi Brothers go...
He's funny and always has something interesting to say. I can related to him.
He's smart and articulate, funny and communicates to the listeners well. He is interesting and his voice is pleasant.
Where Marty goes - people will follow!
Marty has a great sense of humor and was wonderful to listen to in the morning, he could always make me laugh. He and Jody were the perfect team. I will miss them!
Because he is a fun person to listen to. He had creative contests that would test your knowledge...or stupidity. I would turn on his program to listen to him and Jodi, not the music, to start my day with a smile. Now that's a radio personality!
He is just plain awesome.
