Luisa's Mexican Grill

Category: Mexican (66 listings)

Originally named El Toreador, this restaurant was first opened in San Francisco in the 1970's. Upon hearing about a need for good Mexican restaurants in the Seattle area; the Garcia family decided to move the El Toreador Restaurant to Seattle, WA in early 1979. El Toreador quickly became one of Seattle's Favorite Mexican Restaurants.

From the "Tortilla Casita" each and every evening fresh hot off the grill, Handmade Corn Tortilla's filled with butter and a delicious homemade salsa is served complimentary to hungry dinners. These tortillas quickly became El Toreador's claim to fame. It's been said, over the years, "Happiness is a Warm Tortilla".

They are an excellent neighborhood restaurant. Service is always superb, it does get busy but the food is always out in fast fashion. Best value for quality, wonderful drinks. Staff is outstanding. We call it our second kitchen and eat there at least once a week.

Freshest and best tasting tamales. Made fresh daily I think. Very hard to find a good tamale in this town. Luisa's is very authentic and tasty.

The Chicken Sopes are amazing. The staff is friendly. I would eat there everyday if I didn't think they would think I was totally weird.

I've come to this tasty little joint since '96 when it was under another name - and Luisa's, by any other name, stlll tastes as good.

Try out the Pollo al Carbon. The sauce is amazing. And the hand made tortilla's at dinner time is a great way to wait for a table. Scott, the owner, and his many wonderful waiters (ask for Victor's section to be treated like a prince) will make your dining experience worthwhile. Go hungry. Leave quite satisfied.
