Karate West Training Centers located in Sammamish and Mercer Island are owned by Randy and Jan Holeman. Karate West has earned a twenty year reputation for its inspiring staff, outstanding martial arts programs and beautiful facilities.

Karate West's first full-time training center opened in Issaquah in 1989. The school offered not only an effective self defense program for children and adults, but also a comprehensive program of personal growth and development. It would be the emphasis on teaching life skills of leadership, integrity, goal setting, self discipline and academic excellence, to name a few, that would cause the community to respond. The Sammamish training center is one of the largest martial arts school in the Northwest with nearly 1000 members. The beautiful facility ranks among the top 1% in the nation with three large training rooms, Olympic style rubber flooring, spacious lobby, pro shop, quiet homework area for children, and a coffee bar. A second location was opened on the South end of Mercer Island in August 2007.

Karate West has been a favorite place for kids and their families for over 20 years. Karate West inspires students to live a healthy lifestyle, set worthy goals and become leaders among their peers.

Karate West is a fantastic school that emphasizes much more than self defense. They don't create champions for tournement trophies. They create champions at Life.

This is the best place for kids and families! Students learn to exceed their goals, excel academically, embrace fitness and give to those less fortunate. They are confident, compassionate, focused, disciplined and very effectivie martial artists.

Karate West is a great school to learn Shudokan Karate and become an incredibly skilled Martial artist. And, Karate West is more than just Martial Arts. Life skills are part of the training as well. We are just about to begin the academic challenge to support all the kids going back to school, helping them to build good study habits. Karate West is a wonderful community.
