Nominated for: BEST Local Radio Personality
Jeannie Yandel took the long road to public radio. She worked as a bartender, pizza joint waitress, mask designer, makeup artist, and investor liason for a now-bankrupt scrap metal company before landing at KUOW. But she's always been a sucker for a great story, and had an epiphany upon listening to NPR one freezing winter morning in her native Chicago. She realized the best stories she'd ever heard were consistently coming from public radio. So after moving to Seattle in 2001, she interned at KUOW and wouldn't leave until they hired her. She's since produced Morning Edition, Rewind, Weekday, and most recently produced and occasionally hosted The Conversation. After all that experience behind the scenes, she's excited to work with pros Megan Sukys and Dave Beck to co-host Sound Focus. She can't wait to find out what new stories she'll hear.
