GEMS Sneakershop is a lifestyle store that provides a diverse group of shoes, clothing, accessories and art which cater to the young urban professional who is seeking to promote their own sophistication, individuality and style. Owner John Mooney opened this flagship shoe, apparel and accessories boutique in 2008. With research and consultation, GEMS was designed as an upscale lifestyle boutique to provide the "footwear enthusiast" selection from exclusive collections displayed on its signature cove wall. With respect to the residents and culture of the Pioneer Square District, GEMS showcases casual footwear that is an alternative to the footwear in malls and large discount stores - but is price sensitive and stylish to reflect the customer's individuality. In July 2008, GEMS was named one of the "Top Five New Stores" by The New York Times' The Moment.
