Chief Dan Packer lost his life while scouting a wildfire on Saturday, July 26, 2008 in the Siskiyou Complex Fire in Northern California . He was part of a Washington State-based incident management team made up of emergency management professionals who provide mutual aid support for all types of major incidents.
