City Zu was formed in 1966. It was originally named The Zuutles........until John Lennon concluded he had to let Jerry, the sax player, go because his faulty instrument squeaked over excessively throughout their performances. Jerry Zu was forced to leave his native Liverpool, England or be beheaded by the queen herself. He hitchhiked his way to Brighton, where he boarded an awaiting canoe. He spent the next several months paddling his way across the great waters of the Atlantic, through rivers, lakes and waterways, fighting off giant eels and other sea serpents with his saxophone, looking for America.....only to realize he'd forgotten to bring a compass with him, landing him in Iceland. On a frosty night in Iceland, clinging to his life and sanity, Jerry accidentally set his canoe ablaze trying to build a fire to brew some coffee. After the flames settled down, Jerry discovered all that was left of his worldly possessions was a cup of java and his rusted out saxophone. The canoe was destroyed in a matter of minutes, but the smell of the fresh coffee brewing attracted the attention of an alien space ship flying overhead that swooped down, picked Jerry up and for a song and dance, flew him to his suburban destination of Bellevue, Washington. The rest is rock and roll history and I believe every word he says.
