Voting Home / Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture
Nominated for: BEST Museum
Located on the UW campus, the Burke Museum is the Washington State museum of natural history and culture. The Burke presents popular family events annually, such as Bug Blast, Meet the Mammals, and Dino Day and brings scientific leaders like Jack Horner and Louise Leakey to Seattle for free public lectures. Recent special exhibits have included "Cruisin' the Fossil Freeway," "Coffee," and "Weaving Heritage (opening 10/2)."
Not just an amazing resource for history and culture, but Also an awesome, affordable, FLEXIBLE, place to have an event, such as a wedding! As an example, I heard that the UW MBA program got pretty freaky there at their 2010 annual party...also had our (unbelievably fun) wedding reception there, so yes, this is said with a bias. ;)

Reminds me of my great-grandparents house, items that I remember from my childhood. Great place to take your kids when having the "when I was your age" speech.
Yes, that is a slate for doing your homework with chalk. al la Little House.

This is a GREAT museum, no matter how many times you have been. It is wonderful for the kids and adults, alike. And when you get done here the UW is just around the corner...
