Nominated for: BEST Theatre Group
The Broadway Center for the Performing Arts is a non profit organization that manages the largest complex of theaters between Seattle and Portland, including the landmark Pantages (built in 1918, restored in 1983), the jewel box Rialto (also built in 1918, restored in 1987) and Theatre on the Square (built in 1993). Together the three theaters anchor downtown Tacoma in the historic and thriving heart of the city at 9th and Broadway.
For 25 years the Broadway Center has been the steward of the facilities and presented world class artists on-stage. The Broadway Center serves more than 250,000 patrons annually, including more than 25,000 students and teachers, and hosts nine resident arts organizations that form the backbone of the region's performing arts scene.
