Charlie Brank got his passion for barbeque (Texas style) from his pastor, Avery Oswalt back in the 1980's. When Pastor Oswalt retired and moved back home to Texas in 1990 he gave him his secret recipe for barbeque sauce. Charlie and his wife took their first professional BBQ class in 1991 from Paul Kirk (7 time World Champion in Beef Brisket). Charlie and Lori opened Branks BBQ on Main Street, Sumner, Washington in November of 1995 with their 3 children (then ages 8, 10 and 12) in a 1400 square foot building with seating for about 40. In February of 2005 we opened up our present location an now have 6000 square feet and seating for approximately 115 in our two dining rooms and a banquet room that seats up to 120 people. We have four Ole Hickory Pit smokers, one being an on-site moblie pit. We use a dry rub on our meats and the meat is smoked with wild cherry or apple wood. Our BBQ meats include Beef Brisket, Baby Back Ribs, St Louis style Ribs, Chicken, Pulled Pork and Pork Loin. Our homemade barbeque sauce is served on the side. Our homemade side dishes of Cowboy Beans, Coleslaw, Potato Salad, Cornbread, Kansas Dirt (dessert) and Sweet Iced Tea are made fresh daily.
