After 15 days of voting, the horse race for Evening Magazine's Best of Western Washington is heating up. Voters have blown away early milestones and as of last night passed the 250,000 vote mark. Western Washington voters have been vocal across the board, but today we are going to focus on one category: Best Indie Theater.
From first-run blockbusters, to Oscar-worthy independent films, movies are a big part of the Western Washington arts and entertainment landscape. And that rich cinematic culture is buoyed by a number of popular independent cinemas. So far, voters have shown their movie buff credentials, nominating 33 local spots for the title of Best Indie Theater in the Western Washington area. Whether summer matinees or Friday night date night is your thing, Western Washington voters will tell you where to get your tickets.
Can The Grand Cinema defend it's 2011 title? Will an underdog surprise us all? Cast your vote, tell your friends, stay tuned and may the best indie theater win!
