Robert Michaelson, MD,PhD,FACS
Northwest Weight Loss Surgery
Practice Philosophy: Doctors recognize that diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and many of the other maladies associated with obesity are serious diseases. Many, however, do not consider obesity in the same light. Often health care providers will treat the “disease” and ignore the obesity. The fact of the matter is that obesity is a disease, and it is the root cause of many other diseases and serious health concerns. By treating obesity as the disease it is, we are able to make great strides in the improvement of many, other related health conditions.
Surgery has proven to be the most effective method to combat obesity long term. As a doctor, it is my pleasure and privilege to treat people with this disease and in the process, see marked improvement in so many related health problems. Diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea, reflux disease, asthma, high cholesterol, depression, all resolve or improve significantly with weight loss. During the process, people frequently develop a greater self esteem and confidence as the weight is permanently shed. Many are able to accomplish things they could only dream of when they suffered from obesity.
Our comprehensive approach to the surgical management of obesity dramatically changes lives. Our patients not only become healthier, they go on to lead longer and more fulfilled lives. It is a privilege to be part of this process.
