In 2005 partners Matt Day, Ryan Trail and Will O'Donnell were drawn together by a shared vision of creating an artisan cheese making business using fresh milk from local Washington dairies.
All three men are in their early thirties with young families. They knew they'd have to create their own jobs to support themselves in the somewhat remote but beautiful town of Port Townsend.
Will O'Donnell has been self employed his entire adult life, working as an organic farmer, carpenter, and cartoonist. His passion for sustainable food and craft led him to Mt. Townsend Creamery. Will is in charge of product development, staffing, scheduling and promotion. Ryan Trail brought a decade of engineering experience to the team, much of it gained while working as Process Engineer at New Belgium Brewing Co. in Colorado. Ryan designed the plant and manages operations, production, quality assurance and maintenance as well as regulatory compliance.
